Being 'SINGAPORE'

I'm currently in the train on the way to Yishun. Let's make this blog post a pretty quick one! I only have 10% left of battery. Yikes!
Recently, there was this news about the 37m Merlion in Sentosa being demolished soon and as Singaporeans, we felt the sadness although it wasn't the FIRST childhood memory being taken away. I saw this post of Facebook saying how important photographs are nowadays because everything in Singapore is not permanent. Remember the small water fountain at Terminal 1? Remember the old Escape theme park? Remember the old Shaw theatre at Woodlands Town Centre? Remember the old Geylang Serai which had the very kampong vibe? Singapore is always upgrading and the only childhood location we have now are MOSTLY stored in our memories. Thus, the importance of keeping pictures. As I was telling N how sentimental it was (because we had one of our dates there), N reminded me that there is no need to be. If Singapore is as sentimental, she won't upgrade and grow as beautiful as it is now. AND I FELT THAT One of the reasons why we stop growing because we are held back by memories and emotions. Sometimes, we need to let go of the past to grow to be a better person. Things around us change and so do we. We are always changing as a person. It is normal and it is what life is. Nothing is permanent. Like how I am truly so proud of Singapore, I aim to be that way. From a small red dot to something beautiful in the eyes of the world. That is how it should be - from just an ordinary person to something beautiful in the eyes of others and God. Wow, just on time! I am reaching Yishun and I pray Allah s.w.t always gives us strength to let go of some things and make us grow to be something really bautiful. Aamiin.
Signing off,
