Fertilizers for Motivation

Never let people define who you are. Or tell you what you should be doing or your goals in life. You are you. You create your own dreams and chase them because dreams can be a reality.

Comparing is a disease of the mind. Don't compare yourself to anyone. Just carry on at your own pace

You don't need attention and compliments to feel good about yourself. Being confident can make you happier. Happiness starts with you.

Only focus on your goals. Don't be distracted by others. The only way to succeed is to focus on yourself and what is best for you.

Be kind. Be nice. Think good of others.

It makes a difference,

a good one.

TOP 5 things I learn during #WerkingWoman talk + Meeting Vivy Yusof

" Write your own book at your own pace"

OMG! YES, THAT'S VIVY YUSOF STANDING RIGHT BESIDE ME! #StillFangirlingTillToday I did blogged about her a year ago and I still can't believe I actually met her! I'm still trying my luck to visit her office one day though #TryingMyLuckAgainAndAgain

Other than meeting Vivy Yusof, I actually DID learn a lot from #WerkingWoman. I have to give credits to Love, Bonito and the other guest speakers to have made this talk a successful one and holding such events and talks like this in conjunction with International Women's Day. #WomenEmpowerment

I'm not sure about the other girls that went but this talk was like a motivational talk for me and giving me that little 'push' to do better and work harder.

TOP 5 IMPORTANT POINTS ON #WERKINGWOMAN

#1. Don't do business because everyone's doing it. Do it because you ENJOY doing it. My friends and I met up yesterday and we agreed that how Asian parents want us to be in these 5 main job path - Lawyer, Doctor, Businessman, Teacher, Pilot. The common thing about all the 5 jobs, they are all well paid. I don't blame our parents as I know they want the best for us. Especially in this economy where SINGAPORE = EXPENSIVE. But sometimes, we have to know what we are good at that can keep us motivated and make us happy for the next over 40 years in the working world.

#2. Your passion VS what you are good at? Choose the latter. Why? Because if you have a passion for something but you are not good at it, there won't be a great outcome at the end of the day. It'll mostly end up as a failure. However, if we do something that we are good at, there will be greater outcomes. We will start to enjoy the successful outcome from what you are doing which will make you feel good and thus, hopefully, will gain passion in it.

#3. Don't be scared of failures and be very open about it. Always keep in mind that you MIGHT have a chance to fail and always prepare an alternative plan. If Plan A fails, what's Plan B? If Plan B fails, what's Plan C and so on... #4. When it's time to give up, GIVE UP! For example, you have been working on Plan A but it doesn't seem to work out. You keep trying and trying but NOPE, IT'S NOT WORKING AT ALL! So learn to give up on Plan A and start working on Plan B. This can be applied in our lifestyle and a reminder to me that don't force things to work when it can't work. When it's time to move on, move on... Don't limit yourself to just one direction.

#5. Don't rush to be an ADULT

Many people are rushing to be an adult because we have responsibilities (including me). We want to grow up quick - find a job and stay in our first job for 5 years or more because we are too comfortable with it. However, after a few years when we get bored and want to try other things, we think 'it's too late' and we are already comfortable with where we are now.

Seeking and trying different things at a young age gives us the advantage to experience new things and to really know what's our strength. We get to know ourselves better and discover what job do we really enjoy doing and what we are good at. That goes back to point #2. This talk makes me reflect on what I really want to do and don't be too pressured by everyone else especially when we have social media - we tend to compare ourselves with someone else. I remember seeing this quote, "Don't compare your chapter 1 to people's Chapter 6". You write your own story and only you can determine how will the pace be like. Own your book, be proud of it and always always always do your best! I pray that all of us will be given strength to find whatever we are good at and to all confused souls out there, do it at your own pace♥
