Marie Kondo: Yay or Nay?

" Keep only those things that speak to your heart"
Before I start my blog post for this week, something very annoying happened to me the whole of this week which made me felt frustrated but I'm all good now. Do you know when you want to have a positive year ahead and there will be those people who just want to ruin the whole "POSITIVE VIBE" for you? It annoys me that people are still so insensitive about their surroundings and starts shooting words in your face as if you have ZERO feelings.
Come on guyssssssssssss??????!!!!!! What happened to "new year, new me"???
But I realise one thing, maybe some people are born that way and they don't realise as it's already a habit. Humans will always be humans and NOTHING will satisfy them. Some just hate seeing others being positive because their heart isn't as pleased with whatever they have now. And I can assure you that these people wouldn't be satisfied until everyone goes down (with them).
But hey, you know what? Don't be disheartened because if you start to go with their flow just to please them, you are the weak one who doesn't have the discipline and principle in life. So one advice I can always remind myself, IGNORE & MOVE ON.

As you can read from the title, recently there was this uproar of a Netflix original called "Tidying Up with Marie Kondo". Once again, before I continue with the ALL positive aspects of things, many people were so negative about it. **SCREAMSSSSSS** (like come on, are we not done yet?) So I would like to give a heads up...
Firstly, I do not have a maid/helper at home. So yes, I clean my own room, do my own laundry, I fold my own clothes, I iron my own clothes, I wash my own dishes, I do most of the chores MYSELF. Of course, help around the house too! My parents WOULD NOT HELP ME do a single chore. BUT IT'S OKAY! Because cleaning and doing chores is SUPER THERAPEUTIC for me. I've been decluttering my room every now and then. I'm 80% OCD and so most of my hanging clothes are arranged according to the same colours. (You can ask my friends...)
So why I was AMAZED by this show?
1. Effective, efficient & less mess
How have I not taught this method of storing my clothes? Before folding my shawls like this, I used to hang them until it got too much and too heavy, the shawl hanger broke. So I actually decluttered my room sometime back last year to make space dedicated for my shawls ONLY. However, how I actually organised it was by STACKING method. So you can imagine how fast it got messed up whenever I tried to take/find a shawl in my drawer?? And it was difficult for me to actually see all the colours I had in my drawer.
2. Marie Kondo, herself, brought POSITIVE vibes As you watch one episode after another, she taught how to respect the clothes and thank the clothes as we sort them out and before we throw them away. To be honest, how often are we actually thankful with everything we have??? As girls, we love to shop and no doubt some of us have this obsession with clothes. In the end, it all becomes a MESS! Why? Because we keep complaining we have NOTHING to wear when there were SO MANY CHOICES in our closet.
3. Declutter, declutter, declutter, and keep what sparks joy Even before Marie Kondo hype, I love to declutter. However, I wasn't aware of what 'sparks joy' mentality. How I decluttered was to ask myself these questions, "Do I still need this?" "When was the last time I used it?" "Do I need it again in the future?" So decluttering my room can last up till a whole 8 hours!!! Because you know, you ask yourself too much question, you can't make up your mind! But Marie Kondo's method was more straight forward - hold the item and think if it sparks joy. If you are not smiling, you should get rid of it/give it to someone else! Easy!
There are lot's of ways to see things positive rather than seeing it negatively and pinpoitning people and saying "Eh, so before this you never clean/organised your clothes is it?" etc. Because please please please, don't demoralised a person who just wants to bring positivity to the world and themselves.
Good things are meant to be shared and I strongly feel Netflix did a great job in filming such shows other than dramas which are only for entertainment purpose.
I pray that all of us will stop this negative mentality. No matter what age you are, I pray all of us won't be too fooled and easily influenced by the negative vibes around us.♥
