Fertilizers for Motivation

Never let people define who you are. Or tell you what you should be doing or your goals in life. You are you. You create your own dreams and chase them because dreams can be a reality.

Comparing is a disease of the mind. Don't compare yourself to anyone. Just carry on at your own pace

You don't need attention and compliments to feel good about yourself. Being confident can make you happier. Happiness starts with you.

Only focus on your goals. Don't be distracted by others. The only way to succeed is to focus on yourself and what is best for you.

Be kind. Be nice. Think good of others.

It makes a difference,

a good one.

Questions?

" Judge a man by his questions rather than his answers"

It's my holiday week this week and to be honest, I have done nothing so productive because I was making use of this time to really have some 'me time' and of course meeting my close friends. It's also the first time I am blogging at the comfort of my lovely bed. (yes!) I wanted to do some reading but my brain was really telling me, "No more reading for this week please!". My brain was so tired and you know, I really love reading but last month have been so heavy overloaded with stress which made me just want to chill for this week.

So as I had my 'me time', I went out with a few people who were really dearest to me. One of them was N and I have a very "odd + funny" story to share. So I went out with N a few days ago. As N was driving, the car accidentally hit the kerb which made the tyre burst. So while the tyre was being replaced, two Uncles passed by at different timings asking the VERY VERY OBVIOUS QUESTION, "Tyre burst ah?" with that sooo Singaporean accent. So the first thing I thought was like "Hey wonderful! Someone wants to help us!" but here is the funny thing, both of them walked away after asking us that and they didn't even offered to help. (???!!!)

Okay, it was our fault that we expected them to help. But really, this situation got me thinking. -Why do people ask obvious questions??? Other examples would be, you know how you just got back home and your parents ask you, "just came home ah?" or... you go out for lunch at 2 in the afternoon and your friends bump into you and ask "wah eating lunch?" or... it's pouring outside and even your own self starts saying "wah raining ah??". Yes, you get me.

So I was hesitant to actually post this because 'till now, I didn't get my answer because let us all admit to be guilty of this. So I decided to Google.

I didn't really find out a convincing answer, most of it was...

1. just kaypo (busybody) 2. trying to start an icebreaker (but fail miserably) 3. really concern but don't know how to start a conversation 4. just for fun? They just want to check if you will response 5. just used to it. You know, asking stupid questions, I mean, obvious questions.

And then I realise, why do people love to ask obvious questions when a matter of fact, people should ask things which aren't obvious. Have you ever realise that people tend to assume things that they don't see but ask the things they see with their own very eyes? This brings me back to something I just remembered - the concept of seeing and believing. People tend to be more confident talking about something if they see something with their own eyes. When they don't, they become uncertain and when they don't dare to ask, that is how assumptions come in. And this is the most toxic and dangerous thing in the world right now because it could lead to slandering. (but I will keep that to next week's post)

Being a knowledgable person, asking things which are unclear is something not stupid, to begin with. You are curious. You want to know things better. And that is not stupid. This applies to everything and anything in this world - be it studies, knowing someone, how to build something or even knowing how some things work.

Sometimes, we can't just stop at, "oh it's a chair!" we have to be more than that, "how is the chair being built? who built it? where is it from? how much is it?" and that way, we can all be very knowledgeable people and on top of that really open our eyes to see the world and appreciate what God has for us.

I hope everyone, including me, become a much more knowledgable by thinking of the things that not only we see with our own eyes. I pray that all of us would be smart people to ask the right things at the right time so that this world would be a better place. ♥

P.s. Thanks to N, I now know how to change a car tyre. I learnt something new that day! :)
